SOS PROJECT – MAY 2019
SOS PROJECT – MAY 2019
We have selected Franklin County Animal Rescue (FCAR) in St. Albans, VT as our SOS Project recipient for May.
FCAR is a small, but mighty organization that serves a large area of Northern Vermont by helping hundreds of animals find their furever homes each year. The organization does not receive government funding, making the generous donations they receive from the community vital to their continued success.
The FCAR building is quaint with a cozy lobby and a room that contains a wall of kennels where most of the cats are housed. There is another area for the dogs, but we haven’t been in that space.
When you walk in, it’s not uncommon for a kitty to greet you at the door. While all of the cats have designated kennel spaces, many of them get to roam around during the day and interact with all of the visitors and staff. How awesome is that!
My person visited with some of the kitties when she brought our donation. Floyd (grey), Kai (orange/white), and Ulysses (calico) all are FIV positive and cannot leave their kennels to avoid spreading the virus. They were all so sweet and wanted as much attention as they could get. As of today, they are still available to be adopted!
If you recall, I also have FIV. I’m healthy, happy and act like any other cat. Many cats with this diagnosis live long normal lives, so please don’t overlook them!
Our SOS Project donation consisted of:
- Wet & dry cat food
- Cat treats
- Wet & dry dog food
- Dog treats
- Crocheted blankets
- Laundry detergent
- Dish detergent
- Rubber gloves
- Trash bags
- Scratching mat
If you’re looking for a great place to volunteer, make a donation or adopt a new friend… we hope you’ll consider visiting FCAR!
